THE MILES CITY FESTIVAL IS ALWAYS A BLAST!

Hey Bluegrass friends!!!!!! Well we had a great weekend out in Miles City at
the bluegrass festival last weekend. The Special Consensus sounded amazing
and we said good-by to Justin Carbone who will be leaving the group in
October. We have all really enjoyed this young man from New Jersey and we
all wish him the best. On Saturday night all of the bands got up on stage
and we all played several songs together. The crowd loved this and so did
we. We had some great jamming all weekend and great hospitality from the
wonderful Montana bluegrass friends. The band High Plains Tradition from
Denver was there and they are a wonderful band and we really enjoyed hanging
out with them as well. There were several pies again by the Baptist Church
who always feeds us very well. There had to be 15 different kinds of pie
again. I always say we need to call this the Miles City PIE and bluegrass
festival. I could just imagine the names of all of the pies on the back of a
t-shirt. Ha, Ha. This festival is always such a personal friendly festival
much like the Cross Ranch State Park festival in June in ND. Many good
friends from all over.

This weekend on Sunday the 27th Cotton Wood will be playing at the Apple
Fest at the Buckstop Junction from 1130am-1:30pm. Come on out and support
the Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation's 3rd annual festival. Should be some
great food and music all weekend. It goes from 10am-4pm on Saturday and
Sunday.

On Sunday Cotton Wood will also be playing at Bismarck State College at 3pm
for the "Bismarck's got Talent" fundraiser for BSC to take choir members to
Carnegie Hall in New York City in March 2010. There will be several acts
performing at the college for this event.

Be sure and mark your calendars for the 2nd Sunday of each month at Gateway
mall for jamming from 1-5pm. Bring your instruments and sing along. We are
looking forward to hopefully recording our 3rd band cd this fall. It is
always an exciting time to pick the songs and get them all worked up and
ready to record.

We are also planning the January bluegrass weekend at Bismarck State College
for January 8,9th of 2010! We are looking forward to our 5th annual winter
bluegrass "Blizzard" weekend of music and workshops and two school shows
this year. We will be posting information on our web site in the next few
weeks.

Hope this note finds you all well. First day of fall and the weather is
amazing and looking forward to the fall colors. Music is always fun and
exciting and be sure and get out to hear as much as you can. Until next
time, Jill Wiese
